The story

Why we built a tool that audits Shopify stores

The story behind AuditCRO, and why a first conversion diagnosis should exist for brands that can’t afford a specialized agency.

Brandionary

Who we are

AuditCRO was created by the creative studio Brandionary: web design, web development, Shopify development, Canva apps, Shopify apps, and SaaS products.

We've worked with large French ecommerce brands generating millions of euros a month: custom sections, preparing A/B tests. That's how we ended up at the heart of what actually converted, and what didn't: the audits, the results, the pages that held.

On the blog we write about what actually separates a store that converts from one that stalls: the message, trust, specificity. Here we switch formats, and tell you why we built a tool to make part of that work accessible to everyone.

Real CRO is expensive, and most brands can’t access it

Real CRO support, with a team analyzing the funnel, formulating hypotheses, and running A/B tests continuously, is a monthly budget that only brands already doing several hundred thousand euros in revenue can afford. For a store that’s just starting out, or doing a few tens of thousands of euros a month, that level of support is simply out of reach, even though the conversion problems are often exactly the same.

That gap is why we built AuditCRO: a first CRO diagnosis, free, for brands that can’t afford an agency.

The logic behind a CRO audit, in short

Without getting into proprietary methodology, the general logic of a CRO audit rests on a few principles that are fairly widely shared across the industry. The buying journey breaks down into stages (homepage, collection page, product page, add to cart, checkout, purchase), and the goal is to identify at which stage friction is strongest, rather than optimizing at random.

Every change being tested should also start from a clear hypothesis rather than a gut feeling. The most widely used format in the industry, documented for example by Articos, fits in one sentence: “if we change X, then we expect Y, because Z.” This structure forces every test to be grounded in real data or observation, not a hunch. Tests without hypotheses generate data. Tests with hypotheses generate decisions.

Finally, not every change is worth the same effort. Some are obvious and get deployed directly (the classic “quick wins”). Others need a real A/B test because the impact is less certain or riskier. This distinction, very common across the CRO industry, helps prioritize the time and budget available.

What building AuditCRO taught us

Building a tool that applies this logic automatically meant turning qualitative conversion judgment into a precise checklist of 262 checkpoints, spread across 8 page types we can actually open. Expertise that usually stays in specialists’ heads, made explicit, verifiable, repeatable.

It’s also what made us realize how much the same patterns keep repeating, no matter the store. They’re almost never unique or exotic problems. They’re variations on a small number of recurring causes, the ones we write about in other articles.

What AuditCRO does today

In practice, you paste your Shopify store’s URL, and the tool analyzes 262 CRO checkpoints across 8 page types. No theme access, no admin, no API keys. A first result in about a minute.

The free audit gives you your score and names 3 conversion leaks. Starter unlocks the full breakdown, page by page, and the order to fix them. Growth and Pro add competitor comparison, A/B test suggestions, and Intelligems-ready implementations.

The idea isn’t to replace a real human audit or a CRO agency. It’s to give a reliable first diagnosis to brands that, without it, simply wouldn’t have access to this level of analysis.

Get your score. It’s free.

Paste your Shopify URL. In about 30 seconds, the AI names the leaks. No admin access, no account required.
